Hey all, As in the thread title, if i was too install 2 x 2gb sticks in the 2 and 4 slots on my motherboard would the results be the same as if i used 1 and 3. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6. Memory slots 1 and 3 are Yellow and 2 and 4 are red. In the manual it says it can handle In looking at my options, I found that within the Performance tap of Task Manager that it shows my laptop having "Slots used: 2 of 4" so I had hoped to use the other two ports for additional memory. So my Laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK, i got it back 2016, on task manager it says it is got 4 ram slots but when i open the panel on the back i visibly only see 2 ram slots, no they don't stack and would they be deeper on motherboard or under more panels? and second question i am not sure if this is the right laptop i bought when i lok up

MSI Z490 Unify, I've built 2 (10900K) of these now which supported gskill 8 MB sticks of 4133 MHz for total 32 MB Ram -- So far I've not seen any T-Topology boards with Z490 Chipset (which is preferred with filling all 4 dimm slots).

When I use CPU-Z it has slots 1 - 4 showing. It is showing my memeory in slots 1 & 3. Does this mean I have 4 slots or is that for computers that have 4 slots.

Why does Task Manager indicate that I have 4 memory slots with only 2 in use when my laptop only has 2 SODIMM slots. I am upgrading the available memory for my ASUS ROG STRIG G731GT .
